SAKETAM SEVANILAYAM located in lush green, serene surroundings near Nambiankavu Temple, Mapranam, Irinjalakuda specially designed as a home away from home for the aged is a dream project undertaken by Sevabharathi Irinjalakuda. The bhoomi pooja was performed by H.H. Swami Purushothamananda on 26th April 2015 and civil construction work on the fifty cents of plot commenced in September 2016 and the first phase is scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2017. The approximate project cost, inclusive of free hold land already acquired, is estimated to be Rs.2.50 crores. The project when completed, will accommodate seventy five aged women, either single or widowed and disowned by their kith and kin.

Another unique feature of the project is provision for installation of solar panels of 2 KW capacity. A bio-gas plant of 5 cbm is also proposed to be installed so as to recycle the bio-degradable waste into energy and manure for the kitchen garden that will form an integral part of the project. Taking cue from the Prime Minister’s message to spread awareness of yoga to every nook and corner of the country, we will be conducting yoga classes from the precincts to the residents of the vicinity.

As part of women empowerment, we propose to conduct classes in tailoring & embroidery to the ladies of nearby locality so as to help them find self-employment. The project also envisages a Gaushala consisting of three cows of native breed to begin with.
