Medical Camps & Blood Donation Drive


Free eye check-up was organised in association with Ahalia Foundation Eye Hospital on 12th February 2011 at Unnayi Warriar Kalanilayam, Irinjalakuda. Out of one hundred and eighty patients who availed of the facility, twelve were chosen to undergo free cataract surgery at Ahalia Eye Hospital, Palakkad. A free opthalmology camp held in association with Ahalia Eye Hospital at N.S.S. hall, Mapranam on 26th May 2012 was inaugurated by Smt. Sonia Giri, Chair-person of Irinjalakuda Municipality. Out of one hundred and seventy five patients who availed of the facility, twelve underwent cataract surgery at Ahalia Eye Hospital, Palakkad. A blood grouping / donation drive held by Sevabharathi in association with IMA Blood Bank Complex & Research Centre, at Nivedita Vidyaniketan, Mapranam on 16th September 2012 was inaugurated by Smt. Benzy David, Chair-person of Irinjalakuda Municipality.Fifty five numbers of grouping were done and forty members donated blood. We have a panel of donors ready to donate blood in case of any emergency. As part of the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Swami Vivekananda, Sevabharathi organized a blood donation camp at Shantiniketan Public School, Irinjalakuda, on 07th September 2013 . The event, inaugurated by Ms. E.V. Susheela, Deputy Collector of Thrissur witnessed one hundred and fifty volounteers donating blood and three hundred people pledging to donate organs. Mr. Biju Bhaskar, Dy.SP, Irinjalakuda, graced the occasion.

Medical , Educational & Miscellaneous Aids


Sevabharathi was instrumental in bringing succor to the distressed family of Shri.Korath Manikantan and Sandhya. Shri.Manikantan, a labourer and Sandhya, a house-wife, residents of Cheloor near Irinjalakuda, approached Sevabharathi in meeting the medical expenses of their baby boy born blind in both the eyes. The doctors at the Little Flower Hospital, Angamaly, successfully transplanted one eye , thereby bringing vision to the new born. The entire medical expense was borne by Sevabharathi. Another beneficiary of our medical aid is Mr.T.K. Vikraman, a patient in his early fifties, afflicted with paralytic stroke and unable to move freely without help. Further, we procure medicines from the hospitals / doctors and despatach it to Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission, Attappady in Palakkad and Muttil in Wayanad districts. As part of our educational aid, note books & writing instruments are distributed to poor students every year before the schools reopen after summer vacation.

Land for the landless


Shri Sundaran Pedikkattuparambil, a self made man, from Porathissery Panchayath near Irinjalakuda town added a feather in his cap by his magnanimous act, which will inspire generations to come. On Sunday 30th October 2016, he handed over to Sevabharathi Irinjalakuda, all legal documents pertaining to fifty cents of land at Chemmanda earmarked for rehabilitating thirteen landless families from the poorest of the poor in the vicinity, who need a roof over their heads. The land being distributed for the purpose was acquired by Shri Sundaran ten years ago from his hard earned money and is currently valued at approximately Rs One Crore. The idea of gifting land for the landless sprouted in his mind two years ago. Service to mankind was always close to his heart and he confided the same with his family. His wife a home maker, a daughter and a son, both studying, wholeheartedly supported him in his noble mission. In the meantime, he kept trail of the activities of Sevabharathi Irinjalakuda. Fully convinced of the resources, commitment and dedication of Sevabharthi, Shri Sundaran zeroed in and chose them for partnering his dream project. The felicitation organized at Mahatma UP School, Porathissery was attended amongst others by Shri A Vinod, State Seva Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh. Shri K.S. Padmanabhan, Vibhag Sangachalak, felicitated Shri Sundaran with the customary shawl. Shri P.K.Unnikrishnan, President of Sevabharathi Irinjalakuda presided over the function. The audience erupted in joy, applauded his largesse and gave Shri Sundaran standing ovation when the title deeds of the plot was eventually handed over to the President of Sevabharathi. Shri Sundaran’s voice was chocked with emotion while replying to the felicitation. He expressed his deep sense of satisfaction for having fulfilled his life’s mission of being an instrument in giving succor to the downtrodden and hoped that it will encourage others to emulate his deed. He further exhorted the people to play their part in mitigating the sufferings of the poor and bringing about transformation in the society.

Home For The Homeless


Sevabharathi Irinjalakuda is proud to mention that we won the acclaim of the general public when we took upon the responsibility of constructing a 600 sq.ft. residential house at Chemmanda, Karalam panchayath for a destitute mother Smt. Usha, abandoned by her husband and having two children including a mentally retarded son and aged parents. Smt. Usha who inherited six cents of land is presently working as a domestic help to maintain the family and was living in a tent covered with plastic sheet. The construction entailed an amount of Rs.4.00 lakhs and we are indeed indebted to the samaritans for the successful completion of the project.

Monthly Financial Assistance to medically weak and hapless people


Sevabharathi had initially identified ten persons around Irinjalakuda who are either too old or physically weak to seek gainful employment and look after their family needs. We have been providing them with monthly financial assistance of Rupees two hundred and fifty only since October 2011. Since then, sixteen households were added making the total number of beneficiaries covered under the scheme to twenty six. In addition to the monetary relief, we have also been providing them with kits containing rice, dal, sugar, chips etc during Onam and Vishu festivals.

Ambulance Services


The ambulance service was formally flagged off on 17th April 2010.The service is rendered free of charge to the poor ; whereas a nominal fee is charged from those who can afford. In nutshell, the service is being run on no profit no loss basis. As an acknowledgement of our selfless service to humanity, the trustee of Vettikkara Sree Nanadurga Devi Temple Shri K.N. Menon gifted an ambulance on April 4th 2016 and was formally flagged off by Shri S.T. Sureshkumar Dy.SP, Irinjalakuda. We added another feather in our cap when we were chosen by K.S.E. Limited, Irinjalakuda under their corporate social responsibility scheme and were awarded an ambulance on 12th January 2017. Shri M.C. Paul, CMD of K.S.E. Limited flagged off the ambulance services.

Sambharam Distribution


Since 2010, Sevabharathi has been providing free sambharam to the devotees who throng to watch the ten day annual ‘thiruvalsam’ festival held during the peak summer month of April / May at Sree Koodalmanikyam Temple, Irinjalakuda. The above service was also extended to Sree Vishwanathapuram and Chelookkavu temples during their annual festivities. Last but not the least, Sevabharathi had the unique distinction of providing free drinking water to pedestrians and general public for which temporary arrangements were made near the Municipal Bus Stand, Irinjalakuda, from January to May every year.
