As you know, India is a country renowned for its saga of service and sacrifice, the two sides of a coin. In a land glorified by the seamless generosity of Maharishi Datheejee and Emperor Shibu, the supreme models of compassion and magnanimity, the Rashtriya Seva Bharathi blazed its trail in the service to humanity ever since its inception in 1978.With the avowed aim of realizing a state of ‘Paramavaibhava’, The Seva Bharathi strives to reach out to the weaker and marginalized sections of the society in every nook and corner of the country. With utter dedication and commitment it leaves no stone unturned in its venture to wipe out every tear from every eye. Consequently multifarious activities have been chartered out, approximately 1.38 lakh projects and programmes at the national, state, district and taluk levels which will be implemented by its numerous units at all levels. Many are the projects that are launched, completed and ongoing.

In Kerala, nearly 68 Bala / Balika sadans besides 9 other sadans are established to render roof to the homeless and destitute orphans. Consistent care is taken to maintain good quality with proper infrastructure, financial aid towards health and hygiene, with great efforts to mould the young minds with right attitudes and better perspectives. ‘Annadanam is carried out in 28 hospitals and 54 ambulance services are also provided.

It was in 2007 that the Seva Bharathi took roots at Irinjalakuda. It initiated its services with daily ‘Annadanam’ in the Taluk Government hospital and later geared up its activities, with distribution of medicines, blood donation, eye care camps and ambulance services, besides extending financial relief to the needy. Every year the Sabarimala devotees are facilitated with food and rest on their pilgrimage. More importantly, Seva Bharathi also plays an impressive role in imparting educational aid to the deserving students of the locality, thus helping them to help themselves in their flight to heights.

No single challenge that the Hindu community faces today should be left unaddressed is the motivating spirit that propels and guides the teeming projects of this philanthrophic movement. And from 2009 onwards The Seva Bharathi Irinjalakuda, has plunged into the arena of service to the aged, orphaned and discarded, helpless and sick at the fag end of their lives. As a sure and steady step towards fulfilling this goal,The Seva Bharathi has adopted the Vanaprastham at SMV Road, Irinjalakuda and efficiently manages its smooth and fruitful functioning. This shelter is situated in a 11 cents plot and houses an 2 old building with basic amenities, which we now plan to devote exclusively for the old menfolk, while the aged mothers may be shifted to a new shelter, which is to be built, in the newly purchased 50 cents of land near Nambiyankavu temple Mapranam. This will be a real sweet home named “Saketham Seva Nilayam”, and will have within its fold about 50 mothers who can spend their remaining days in an atmosphere conducive to their health and peace.

This indeed is a crowning project of Seva Bharathi, Irinjalakuda, and an ambitious one too, with an estimate of 1.5 crore for the building
